B.J. Brooks was born and raised in South Carolina. In 2001, he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Lander University in Greenwood, SC. In 2002, God led him to Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, where he graduated with a Master of Divinity and a Master of Arts in Christian Education. He has also completed a Master of Arts in Counseling at Eastern New Mexico University.
B.J.’s ministry experience includes working at a nursing home, working at seminary, and being a pastoral intern, as well as mission trips in Belarus, Mexico, New Orleans, and New Mexico. He has also served as a pastor in Whiteface, Texas. He joined the staff of Central Baptist Church on January 3, 2010. His passions in ministry are education, discipleship, and counseling. He and his wife, Sarah, have 3 adorable sons, Ben, Andrew and James and a precious daughter, Elizabeth.
One of B.J.'s favorite verses is John 10:10 where Jesus proclaims "I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly". This reality motivates BJ to encourage, empower, and equip members of Central Baptist Church to serve the Lord with joy and hope.
B.J. currently oversees and provides resources for adult Sunday School classes, small groups, greeting ministries, young adults ministry, counseling, benevolence, men's ministries, women's ministries, and community outreach.
